Many laypeople usually think there are only judges and lawyers in the law field, but they are other occupations related to the field. When I was conducting research to learn what makes a brilliant lawyer, I found the similar occupations section in the Occupational Handbook which enlightened me about paralegals. Paralegals aid lawyers by organizing case files, gathering evidence, investigating relevant laws, and much more. In order to become a lawyer, you need to complete a four-year graduate degree in college and a three-year Juris Degree in law school. Because of this seven-year period of education, many lawyers start out with tremendous debt that is not easy to pay back from starting salaries of most lawyers. In order to alleviate some debt, aspiring lawyers can become paralegals in law firms because some firms provide financial benefits. The financial benefits of these law firms will provide tuition programs for the staff, which means that paralegals can get some of their law school tuition covered. The tuition aid added to the initial starting salary of 51,000 dollars will significantly reduce the debt of law school and college. Even if your final goal is not to become a lawyer you can still complete an associate’s degree and become a paralegal to make an impact on society.
