This week I was able to learn helpful tips for the future when I am in law school. Law schools are starting to establish clinics in the last year of law school. These clinics are the best way to get real-world experience because they allow you to assist practicing lawyers in real cases related to the field they wish to study. I was also informed about some potential undergraduate fields to help prepare me for law school. Business is one of the best undergraduate fields for law school for many reasons. The first reason is the field can cover multiple areas that the law field covers and it also has clinics in law school for further practice. I also was also provided with better feedback on my resume. I was informed that having specific professional skills rather than just saying professional skills would differentiate me from other candidates in the resume process because most resumes don’t even get read if they do not differentiate. I was told that changing professional skills to networking skills would be the best replacement because it stands out compared to professional skills. I was also told having a picture can differentiate you from other candidates to especially if I can show professionalism through the photo.
