The Veil of Ignorance is not an actual veil people can wear but an ideology. The Veil of Ignorance is a political ideology that ensures the most politically just form of government by using a special method that is not currently applicable. The Veil Of Ignorance is where people vote on ideas without knowing anything about their lives like their social status, wealth, and families. The veil of Ignorance blocks out all biases and creates a completely rational form of government that will represent equality. Today I believe that the veil of Ignorance is not practiced in courts and society. In the court of law, juries tend to think towards themselves rather than the predicament of the accused. If the defendant seems to remind the jury members about themselves they will generally not have a strict opinion about the ruling for example when a criminal is of the same color as the jury member and of the same class as well. An example of this in our society is racism towards African Americans. In my earlier studies, I mentioned how minorities in New York were being prosecuted at a significantly higher rate than whites were and the reason was not that they are just a poor class that usually falls to violence but a class that is being targeted by racists cops.
